Rebecca Wilson (Host)

I’m Rebecca Wilson and our family farm is situated in the Vale of York. I returned to the farm full time four years ago following my studies at university and two roles in the wider agricultural sector.

I’m very interested in the interaction between our livestock and arable enterprises and how this can help us to farm sustainably and profitably.

Omnia has been a great tool to help with general record keeping on farm using the geo tagged photo diary but has also helped us gain a real handle on costs of production – vital in today’s farming landscape.

David Hutchinson

As Chairman of Hutchinsons for the past 35 years, David Hutchinson leads a business that thrives in an industry defined by rapid technical advancements in crop husbandry and farm management.

“I firmly believe that investing in the future of agriculture is essential for success.  Omnia, the British farm management software, developed for British farmers is the most comprehensive and versatile platform to future-proof your farm. Through continuous investment in the system, we  want farmers to have access to the tools and expertise needed to adapt to the evolving agricultural landscape.

Oliver Wood

Oliver joined H L Hutchinson Ltd in 2014 and has responsibility to lead the continual development of our in-house Omnia digital farming platform and services. He also has responsibility for sales, customer support and training of our digital services.

With over 20 years experience in agricultural technology and data management, Oliver has been developing and providing services to farmers and their advisors like to maximise their business potential.

Lewis McKerrow

Having joined Hutchinsons in 2018, Lewis has a national role for developing and supporting digital agronomy tools, a large part of this includes the Omnia platform. As well as an agronomy portfolio in Scotland, Lewis has extensive practical experience of livestock, arable, and contracting businesses.

Gavin Lane

I started farming in 1995 on a contract farming arrangement with my father. I now farm on two sites in West Norfolk which are on arable rotations with extensive stewardship schemes. I am keen on making my farming operations more regenerative and sustainable and looking after the farms’ wildlife habitats.

Omnia has been insightful in both collating my soil and yield data as well as starting to figure out individual costs of production per tonne for each of my fields.

James Griffin

I am a Farm Manager at Fonthill Contracting. A 3,300-ha contract farming business in South Wiltshire, looking after six principal clients across six businesses.

From a Zimbabwean farming family, I have been farming with Velcourt at Fonthill for 10 years, with 18 months spent in Ukraine growing sugar beet.

Omnia has allowed me to manage the agronomy and crop applications remotely, while also removing 90% of the paperwork previously required with Gatekeeper. It is also facilitating all out of VRA applications using easily accessible NDVI imagery.

Nick Shorter

With over two decades in Farm Management, in 2021 I was appointed Managing Director of Velcourt Ltd which operates 56,000 ha of arable, fresh produce, and livestock farms for 120 clients across the UK.

I have an interest in precision agriculture and farm efficiency so recently transitioned Velcourt to Omnia to enable us to bring together crop management, inventory, mapping, and telematics into one paperless system. Omnia has allowed us to have real-time cost of production data analysis per hectare to help influence decision-making and ensure seamless integration of farm operations.

Libby Fisher

My name is Libby Fisher and I’m 20 years old. I’m a  third year BSc Agriculture student at Newcastle university. Our family farm is in Fife, just south of St Andrews. We are primarily an arable farm, with a Poultry Unit which has been in operation for about 8 years. We used to have a beef farm in the South West of Scotland, but moved to Fife in 2011. I have lived on a farm my entire life and have always had a keen interest in the industry, especially sharing my dad’s eye for agronomy.

I used Omnia whilst writing my dissertation. My research focused on a NUE trial that Hutchinsons carried out at the farm. I used Omnia to look at soil types, the trial maps, nutrition and sprays.
